About Ro...

Throughout her teens and 20's, Ro played bass and sang in various rock bands and also produced her own music, adding keyboard, acoustic guitar, drum machine, and lots of vocal layering to her recordings. It wasn't until 2012 when she discovered the Boss VE5 vocal looper that she was able to bring her vocal-dominated sound to live music performance, and was able to replace most instruments with vocals, beatbox, and breath.

Style and influences...

Ro's music is an eclectic mix of beatbox, rock, rap, reggae, electronica, trance, chanting, and lots of vocal harmonies. Her style bridges the gap between ancient and futuristic, ranging from tribal, elemental qualities to electronic-sounding music made using the voice and simple onboard effects. Besides her many original and experimental songs, Ro is known for her mashups: fun and irreverent recipes that combine recognizable snippets of popular music in unexpected ways. The elements of these mash-ups could be referred to as her influences, and include (but are not limited to): Tori Amos, Bjork, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, The Eurythmics, Thomas Dolby, Jann Arden, Chris Isaak, Blue Rodeo, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Alanis Morrisette, Nine Inch Nails, Rob Zombie, Our Lady Peace, Outkast, The Lumineers, Florence and the Machine, and soundtracks from film and television, including Dr. Who, Star Wars, Star Trek, O Brother Where Art Thou, and James Bond...
